Seyarogai Ojisan performs live in Ishigaki

On the night of the 20th, comedian Kosuke Enomori (37), also known as “Seyarogai Ojisan,” took over the city of Misakicho in Ishigaki City with a solo stand-up comedy live show.

Enomori is originally from Nara Prefecture and currently lives on the main island of Okinawa. He is popular for his online videos that humorously and sharply criticize social issues such as the military base issue, and he also performs live all over the country.

The comedy group "Sanpachi Mike" of Tatsuya Kaneshiro (38), a native of Ishigaki City, also appeared on the show. While talking about how islanders tend to read the atmosphere too much, Enomori said, "The city (Ishigaki City) needs to read the atmosphere. When I'm thinking of material, I think about the city that has suffered so many times and is holding a referendum, and sometimes I wish they would read the atmosphere a little better," drawing laughter from the audience.

He also gave an opportunity for a laughing contest in response to the fact that the Crested Eagle is used as a symbol of garrisons deployed in areas where there are concerns about the impact of the endangered Crested Eagle on the ecosystem, saying, "A sacrificed Crested Eagle as the symbol of the land is like a roasted cow on the sign of a yakiniku restaurant."

Enomori said, "The headwinds that are blowing away our ability to even think during referendums will only intensify. The important thing is to show understanding toward those who are creating an atmosphere that makes it easy to speak up. Aren't we reading into the atmosphere that makes it easy to speak up and creating a world where we can no longer laugh?"
